Pegasus is a rare white creature type used for cards that depict winged horses. The original Greek Pegasus was the child of Poseidon, in his role as horse-god and the Gorgon Medusa. He was born of Medusa's blood after she was beheaded by Perseus. According to legend, everywhere the winged horse struck his hoof to the earth, an inspiring spring burst forth. It carried Bellerophon in his attack on the Chimera.

The first card to bear the type was Mesa Pegasus in Alpha. Pegasi can be found on Dominaria, Ravnica and especially on the Greek-inspired plane of Theros.

Dominaria

The most famous pegasi in Dominaria live in eastern Aerona, near the village of Sursi. According to the local custom, Sursi brides-to-be visit their territory, hoping a pegasus will judge her worthy and bless her and her family.

Rath

A small number of pegasi existed on Rath, although it is implied that they did not much like it there. After the planar overlay, it can be assumed that any surviving Rathi pegasi continued to survive in Dominaria.

In the Ice Age the Order of Stromgald used huge war steeds which sometimes could fly (Stromgald Crusader).

Ravnica

The pegasi of Ravnica, as far as can be told, are all wild. Although it is surprising that such a useful animal could survive on the city-plane without being domesticated by someone, there is no evidence that they have ever been tamed.

Theros

Pegasi are very common on Theros. Unlike those of other planes, Therosian pegasi are often used as mounts or hitched to flying chariots. (In Theros block, only Gild depicts a pegasus without harness or rider.)
