Kobold is a red and black creature type which was featured in Legends, and had brief reappearances in Time Spiral (timeshifted) and Commander 2013.

Description

Kobolds are little creatures, resembling a cross between a goblin and an imp. They have red or green skins.

Storyline

There is only one known plane inhabited by kobolds, Dominaria. They live in the Kher Ridges, on Terisiare, in the fortress of Kher Keep. Kobolds seem to be incredibly resilient, since they survived for centuries in their lair, unafflicted by the disasters that ravaged the other parts of Dominaria. For this, Teferi compared them to cockroaches.

Entire regions were destroyed by the kobolds, but not because of their superior battle tactics - when kobolds are hungry enough, they will eat anything that isn't made of rock.[1] A number of kobolds were summoned by Shauku (whom they called the Yellow Lady) to tend the fires guarding the Cosmic Horror imprisoned in her castle, in south-western Jamuraa.[2]

The Kobolds of the Kher Ridges survived into the period of the Terisian Isles, and came to revere the dragon Prossh as a god.[3] They are known to offer themselves to the dragon in the hope that he will spare their kin.[4]
