Terry Soh Han Chuen is a Malaysian former professional player. Soh debuted on the professional stage as a 16-year-old at the 2003 World Championships in Berlin following a runner-up finish at Grand Prix Singapore earlier in the year. His first big success would come a year later, when he made it to the top eight of the 2004 World Championships, losing in the quarterfinals to Ryo Ogura to finish 6th. A few months later, he placed third at Pro Tour Nagoya 2005. Soh was then invited to the 2005 Magic Invitational as the R&D pick,[1] which he ended up winning, resulting of the creation of a card of his design, Rakdos Augermage. Over the next few years, he continued to play on the Pro Tour to varying success, but he posted his third top eight at the 2009 World Championships, eventually losing to David Reitbauer in the semifinals.

His brother, Joe Soh, is also a successful player on the professional stage.

The bluff against Frank Karsten[ | ]

At Pro Tour Nagoya 2005, Soh faced Dutch professional player Frank Karsten in the quarterfinals. In the fourth game with Soh up 2–1, Soh opts to block only one of Karsten's attacking creatures. After blocking, Soh said "I have 9 life, right?", to which the judge responded, "You have 8 life". With a surprised look, Soh responded "I have 8 life?". Being at 8 instead of 9, Soh would be dead on board should Karsten opt to use his Harsh Deceiver's second ability and tap his Kabuto Moth. Karsten had to figure out whether Soh's reaction was a bluff or a double bluff; in the end, he went for the kill, but Soh had Soulless Revival to trigger his Thief of Hope and gain one life, and on his turn, he managed to attack back for the win thanks to playing Wicked Akuba and Hearth Kami to trigger his Thief of Hope. The bluff was a much-talked-about subject in the time following the Pro Tour.[2][3]
