Revised, as it was commonly called, is the Third Edition of the Magic Core Set, as it is now known. It was the first Core Set to "rotate" some cards out, some of which were considered to be "problem cards," and replace them with other cards from previously printed limited expansions. The expansions available at the time were Arabian Nights and Antiquities.

The 35 cards that were removed from the previous Core Set, Unlimited, are: Ancestral Recall, Berserk, Black Lotus, Blaze of Glory, Camouflage, Chaos Orb, Consecrate Land, Copper Tablet, Cyclopean Tomb, Dwarven Demolition Team, False Orders, Forcefield, Gauntlet of Might, Ice Storm, Icy Manipulator, Illusionary Mask, Invisibility, Ironclaw Orcs, Jade Statue, Lich, Mox Emerald, Mox Jet, Mox Pearl, Mox Ruby, Mox Sapphire, Natural Selection, Psionic Blast, Raging River, Sinkhole, Time Vault, Time Walk, Timetwister, Twiddle, Two-Headed Giant of Foriys and Word of Command.

The 39 cards that were added to Revised that were not in Unlimited are: Aladdin's Lamp, Aladdin's Ring, Armageddon Clock, Atog, Bottle of Suleiman, Brass Man, Crumble, Dancing Scimitar, Desert Twister, Dragon Engine, Dwarven Weaponsmith, Ebony Horse, El-Hajjaj, Energy Flux, Erg Raiders, Eye for an Eye, Flying Carpet, Hurkyl's Recall, Island Fish Jasconius, Ivory Tower, Jandor's Ring, Jandor's Saddlebags, Kird Ape, Magnetic Mountain, Mijae Djinn, Millstone, Mishra's War Machine, Onulet, Ornithopter, Primal Clay, Reconstruction, Reverse Polarity, Rocket Launcher, Serendib Efreet, Shatterstorm, Sorceress Queen, The Rack, Titania's Song and Unstable Mutation.
