Island is one of the five basic lands and provides blue mana, which is required to cast blue spells.[1]

Additionally there is a snow variant, the Snow-Covered Island.

List of Islands[edit | edit source]

In contrast to other basic lands the islands are ordered by sea or archipelago rather than continent whenever possible.

Islands of Alara[edit | edit source]

Grixis[edit | edit source]

Islands of Azoria[edit | edit source]

Azoria's ocean featured desert islands until Freyalise destroyed them.

Islands of Cridhe[edit | edit source]

Cridhe itself seems to be mostly an island. There are other smaller isles though.

  • Southern Isle

Islands of Dominaria[edit | edit source]

Cape of Casindral[edit | edit source]

Edemi Islands[edit | edit source]

Golthonor Sea[edit | edit source]

Jaema Sea[edit | edit source]

Vesuva[edit | edit source]

Voda Sea[edit | edit source]

Islands of Kamigawa[edit | edit source]

  • Otawara, may be considered an island in the sky, rather than in the sea.

Kamitaki[edit | edit source]

  • The most notable islands are those floating near the Kamitaki waterfall. Minamo was built on one of them.

Islands of Lorwyn[edit | edit source]

Lorwyn does not have any seas. Instead of islands, the Merrow Lanes supply blue mana.

Islands of Mercadia[edit | edit source]

Islands of Mirrodin[edit | edit source]

Quicksilver Sea[edit | edit source]

Islands of Rabiah[edit | edit source]

  • Serendib
  • The Island of Wak-Wak. Home to a tribe of winged folk. Named for a peculiar fruit that grows there. The fruit looks like a woman’s head, and when ripe speaks the word “Wak.”

Islands of Ravnica[edit | edit source]

Ravnica's water supply system also provides mana.

Islands of Ulgrotha[edit | edit source]

Unknown plane[edit | edit source]

  • Sevick Isles [2]

Rules[edit | edit source]

From the glossary of the Comprehensive Rules (Commander 2018 (August 10, 2018))

Island
One of the five basic land types. Any land with this subtype has the ability “{T}: Add {U}.” See rule 305.6.

Trivia[edit | edit source]

  • The highest rarity an island has ever been printed in was rare in Alpha, as part of WotC's plot to keep players from guessing rarities. [3] [4]
