The sorcery Fireball is widely considered the standard for "X-damage" spells and was one of the first (among two) X-damage spells printed (the other bieng Disintegrate. It has been printed in eight different sets: Alpha, Beta, Revised, Unlimited, 4th Edition, 5th Edition, Anthologies, and Darksteel. Fireball is favored by many players for its ability to damage multiple targets.
Though the card is no longer playable in Standard, similar cards such as Blaze and Flame Fusillade are available in the format.
