Christine Sprankle is one of the American pioneers of Magic: The Gathering cosplay. She is one of the best known and popular cosplayers.[1]
Sprankle started playing Magic in 2010 and made her first notable appearance as Elspeth, Knight-Errant during the 2011 World Championships at San Francisco, United States.[2][3][4]
In November 2017, Sprankle tweeted that she was unloading her Magic: The Gathering costumes and cosplay gear in the wake of months of harassment by a controversial YouTuber who posted degrading videos about her and other cosplayers.[5][6] As a reaction, Wizards of the Coast released a statement, condemning harassment in the community.[7] They also started an investigation, which eventually led to a permanent ban of the YouTuber by the company.[8][9]
In April 2019, Sprankle returned to the Magic scene, after getting inspired by the War of the Spark trailer.[10]
